The Skylark and The Weed
Hark, hear the skylark
Singing above the English moors
Wheeling, spinning away,
Testing the limits of its worldly bonds.
Does it spot the lonely weed watching from below?
Desperately blooming, attempting to tempt the song
Which awakens it from the restless slumber of the earthbound.
Alas, the bloom is a speck amongst the dancing grasslands
Helplessly swaying, drowning in the currents of heather
Never to resurface as the Lilt of the Sky,
Or the day to Its night.
